WLDKAT Skincare—a clean, vegan, cruelty-free, sustainable brand founded by Amy Zunzunegui—has announced that it will be shutting down.
After spending 20 years at Urban Decay, Zunzunegui founded WLDKAT in 2019. The brand originally focused on cannabis, but quickly pivoted to CBD skincare by the end of 2019. Then, the company relaunched without CBD in 2021.
Zunzunegui cited the pandemic as a major challenge.
“Grit kept us going against every road block, but in the end we had to accept our path forward wasn’t the one we thought we would be on,” the brand explained. “Thank you to each human that helped us support this brand from investors, retailers, partners, customers, friends and family.”
Its best sellers included Prebiotic + Probiotic Pleasure Serum, Ginger + Kombucha Skin Tonic and Patchouli + Cherimoya Gel Cleanser.
The brand’s plastic packaging was made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic and a bio-resin made from sugarcane. Also, every box was made from 100% post-consumer paper.
